52 Books in 52 Weeks: Final Target (Week 3)

I was surprised that this was actually a series. I bought it at a flea market for a cheap price and it was worth reading. It had me sitting at the edge of my seat.

52 Books in 52 Weeks: EVE: Templar One (Week 2)

I like Sci-Fi books too. This book is a sequel to Empyrean Age, written by the same writer. The ending made me wish for a more detailed story in the next book

52 Books in 52 Weeks: Bodyguard: Hostage (Week 1)

I stumbled upon this website about reading 52 books in 52 weeks. So, I was interested to take the challenge. I like reading books, but sometimes I would procrastinate from doing it. Taking up this challenge would discipline me into reading a lot of books.

Imagine, 52 books in one year....That would be awesome! First week of the challenge has passed and I successfully read a book in one week.

I started last week on 23rd of September. This book was bought when I was browsing the books at a bookstore. Finished it today. It was a good book to read. I like the concept of having a teenager being recruited into a secret organization of bodyguards. I immediately became a fan of the series. I would have to wait until May 2014 for the second book. I would give my thanks to Chris Bradford for writing this awesome book!

A Week without Facebook

I have deactivated my Facebook account for the past week. At first, I thought it might be hard to leave what I assume another important thing next to oxygen, but, wow, it has already been one week. I'm proud of myself for doing it.

In my experience on Facebook, I have seen everything. From reading informative post to false post which, unfairly, was shared largely by the people on the Internet. From useless status updates to useful but less status updates. From open-minded posts to bigoted posts. All of them I have seen since I created a Facebook account on 2009. I have also seen my friends sharing religious posts, all of them are not in my interest but I couldn't have one day pass without stumbling-upon anything about "You-can't-do-this-because-it's-a-sin" which I highly think that was actually made-up, condemning anything about the Western culture, condemning current trends like Harlem Shaking, Gwiyomi and dancing PSY's Gangnam Style (All of them I don't have interest in them), and sharing conspiracy's. Another thing I observed that during the 2012 Olympics, lots of people shared about how it was a way the "Illuminati" to establish the "New World Order", or how the opening ceremony looks like a satanic ritual, or how the mascot and the stadium have the "All Seeing Eye". I saw them circulating all along until when the Olympics came to an end, so does the sharing of those posts. It's funny, because people like to jump into any bandwagon, thinking that they're doing something for the world when in fact they look like the actual fools.

Another thing that happened on Facebook which I don't care but was force fed upon was during the General Election of 2013 in Malaysia. There was a blackout during the counting of the ballot and when the blackout is gone, for some weird reason there was an increase of total of ballot pages on the ruling party side. People called it bullshit and to protest it, they changed their profile picture to a blank black image. Of course, I didn't join. Days later, they changed back to their old profile picture. A half-assed effort, I say.

After the deactivation of my FB account, I wondered how am I going to keep in touch with my family and friends? Then, I realized, nobody gives two fuck about me and anything I shared on that site. So, me leaving that site is not a concern to anybody. I can keep in touch with my family with my hand-phone. That's its purpose. I feel bliss without Facebook. It helps me to concentrate on my hobbies. I hope this will go on forever, or at least for years. I will never make another Facebook account.

I Hate People Who Listen To Music...Without Headphones

Noisy

They're too noisy! I don't like the kind of music blasting through that tiny speakers that pierces my ear if they listen with a hand phone. What's worse is when they decided to sing along with the music loudly! I, when listening to music, will wear a pair of headphones because that's the way to enjoy music personally. But, blasting romance songs and pop 'music' is intolerable. I'm an Animation student and I love to write and draw. I need tranquility to get my mind running.

Making Use of My Precious Semester Break

Next week will be the last week of my holiday. I couldn't help but feel my time were wasted with useless activities such as sitting in front of my laptop surfing mindlessly, taking long naps and eat a lot. I had made a plan before the break started and so far, I followed 10% of it. You know what they say in my religion: You plan, but God decide. I don't want to end up regretting. Breaks are precious to me.

Recently, I'm into taking pictures of my Gundam models. With the knowledge that I acquired from my former university, and my amateur skills, I took a few shots of my Unicorn Gundam and Cherudim Gundam.

It's good that it's not that bad to me. Although it's an amateur's skill, I'm at least happy with it. Now, on to drawing!

How I learn Spanish By Myself

spanish dictionary vocabulary
It's important to list down the words. Keep a dictionary at bay  so you can read it anywhere.

I was interested in learning Spanish after I met a friend who was from Argentina. My first language is Malay, English is my second language. Soon, Spanish will be my third. It doesn't hurt to learn something new. If I had the chance, I'll learn French and German.

So, I bought myself a Spanish dictionary at Kinokuniya (Refer to my previous post). It's only RM21.90 and the cheapest I could find. The first thing I did when learning a new language was memorizing its vocabulary. There was no Spanish classes here, so I had to do it by myself. If I didn't understand a word, I would refer to my Argentinian friend.

I divided a paper into six columns. I wrote down English nouns such as books, pen and ruler in one column and then wrote its Spanish meaning at the next column. I list down at least five words a day. Slowly, but surely.

This is just too distracting to ignore XD

They have figures inside the bookstore.

Mangas

This here is the Japanese section. All of the books are imported from Japan. The prices are a bit expensive

kazuhiro takamura
I spent about RM140 for this artbook.

Manga magazines from the land of the Rising Sun. You'll be amazed at how THICK they are.
Light Novels. Mostly mainstreams. I wanted to read one, but I don't know Japanese :<
The Light Novel rack from a distance.

Now, a close-up. I then realized mangas in Japanese shared the same rack as the light novels. Most of them haven't been translated into English. That's a bummer, because all of them look good.

Kinokuniya bookstore will always be my favourite place to hang out. However, given that I live in Melaka and the store is in Kuala Lumpur, I could say that I could go there occasionally.
